Our three tiny Serama cross hens are now sitting on eggs. They are so cute in their box, all fluffed up, looking so maternal. This will be our first attempt at hatching eggs, and we're equal measures of excited and anxious.
One of the hens is sitting on d"Uccle eggs that we got from a breeder; the other two are sitting on their own eggs or eggs from their flockmates. We had to rehome our little rooster just a short while ago because of a neighbor's complaint, so these will be the last fertile eggs from our own flock that we're ever going to have. Any little roos that hatch out will have to be rehomed, too, so I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that we don't end up with worse than a 50/50 male to female ratio on any chicks that hatch.
I can't help it, I adore our chickens!
