A friend gave me some eggs to eat at the beginning of March. He gave me so many that I stuck a few in my incubator. Three hatched. I texted him the first picture and asked what they were. Note, my friend has a lot of chickens, all in large pens, not free range. Anyway, he said the two black one were 1/2 welsummer and either 1/2 barred rock or a black hen and the chipmunk one was a pure Welsummer pullet. She is now three weeks old and growing white chest and ear feathers. Is she a Welsummer (she hatched out of a dark brown egg)? Is she a she?
