Thyme for mites??

I am beekeeper and we use thyme oil to treat for mites. I was wondering if anyone has tried it for their chickens. I know it's a different mite but I thought it might work... I am going to add some dried and crushed thyme to my nest boxes and to the wood ash in the dust pan..
