So, I think Tiberius laid her first egg today--but had quite a bit of blood on it. I've seen the other pullets' eggs with smarms of blood, but hers had about a quarter-size smarm with a glob...is she going to be OK? Is this just a normal part of egg-birthing? She's running around and perky, so she's acting fine. I have some Red-Cell I can give her.

unless it happens continuously I would not worry...often happens with birds newly laying as their body adjusts...just make sure she is getting layer rations and that you have free-choice oystershell available

Another question--Normally I wouldn't be worried, but she is SO small! She laid egg number two today, and she's got quite a bit of whitish discharge from her vent...for humans, I know what that would be....but....????

And yes, she's got lots of layer food and free choice grit and oyster shell! Egg today was not bloody.

I love my chickens

sometimes the poo will get "blocked" and come out when she has finally passed the egg...I believe this is what has happened
