Tic on chick??

have 7 chicks that I have in a brooder in my bathroom. I had 5 for about a week and then added 2 bantam Cochins 3 days ago. After adding the 2 new ones I noticed a small black spec floating in the water. Then today I noticed something above the eye on one of my Cochins. When I looked under a microscope it looks almost like 2 small tics. They were attached to the skin. I'm not very versed on bugs that chickens get so not sure if mites/lice would bury in like this?? And what do I do to treat? I checked my other chicks and did not find anything.

Looks like a tick to me. I am surprised the chick's did not eat it, I suppose they must have been to young.

One of the others was pecking at his head. I guess he was trying to get it.

Yes he probably was. Also they are attracted and peck at anything red. This is why you often need to seperate any bird with a wound from the others. The others will peck at the wound and not allow it to heal.
