I have a friend who visited a relative who gave her a tour of her chicken coop. shortly afterwards, she found a tan bug with a darker abdomen attached to the back of her neck. When she pulled it off, she bled alot, so an anticoagulant might have been part of what the bug injected. It wasn't a tick.
I haven't a clue what it might have been. She pretty much destroyed it pulling it off, so she can't identify it any better. Doesn't sound like a mite or a louse. I know chickens can get bed bugs, but she said it wasn't a bed bug.
Any other ideas?
Thanks.
