Four or five days ago I noticed one of my girls combs had drooped and was looking paler. It has been very hot here in southern Spain and at first I put it down to the heat. However she became increasingly lethargic and one eye closed (no swelling or stickiness). I isolated her and without any real symptoms to guide me started small doses of amoxycillin. She is taking small amounts of water, feed and natural yogurt. She does not appear to have diarrhoea but her tail feathers are sticky. She is not distressed but very sleepy now and the other eye has closed. Any ideas what might be going on please?, I don´t want to prolong her suffering but have given her a reprieve to give the antibiotics a chance. The other two seem to be fine but I´m keeping a close watch. Any guidance gratefully received.
Oh dear...it´s three hours later and I don´t think this girl is going to make it. Both eyes closed and difficult to examine, they apear to be quite bloody but I can´t really see properly. She took a little yogurt/antibiotic and water more by reflex than through need. I have to wait until tomorrow morning for a friend to dispatch her (I´m ashamed to admit) but she doesn´t appear in any distress and I think she might just go to sleep´.
