Tilted head

I have a silver laced Polish that hatched yesterday. It took him a really long time to get out, over 24 hours. He has a bit of spraddle leg which he seems to be getting over by himself. He's walking bettter everytime I see him. But his head is tilted to the right. I don't think he can eat or drink well on his own. If I hold him where his head is straight, he'll peck at food, but when I put him down, his head tilts again, & he walks away from the food & goes to sleep. Is this something he can get over eventually?

In most animals a head tilt indicates neurological deficits. But I think with chicks it sometimes has to do with how they are positioned in the egg.

I'm wondering about roughly the same thing... one of my SLWs that hatched yesterday tends to tilt its head backwards (like up and then towards its back). It's eating and drinking though... I too am wondering whether or not it's a thing that will pass - will keep an eye on this thread in case of more answers

When my chicks hatched, one was just all around... rubber necked.

It's head just sort of lolled to the side. Bt it went away as she grew...

I had a little silkie chick hatch that way on Saturday, today you can't tell which one it was! I am so pleased with the way she bounced back!

Well it's eating like a pig, & drinking on it's own too. It's head is still tilted, but it seems to be doing fine. I have it in a rubbermaid bin with a D'Uccle chick that is too small to go in general population & a Houdan who had a rough time hatching. We're calling them the Three Stooges, because they are always running into/over each other & tumbling al over the place.

I'm glad it's doing fine

Mine is indistinguishable from the others now, so I guess it could be "cramps" from their position in the eggs... I do have a splay and a late hatcher that I had to help out to worry about though...
