Time for chicks soon!

Hi! We are getting ready to raise a small batch (maybe 6 or 8) Plymouth Rock chickens. I researched to find some cold hardy for our northern Minnesota winters and they are described as 'very cold hardy'. I have found so many ideas already on Backyard Chickens, so I thought it would be a good idea to be able to ask questions and get advice. We have raised chickens before but I love to read how others deal with the issues that go along with raising them from chicks to egg laying age. We will order them soon and have them in a week or two, so I need to get everything ready for their arrival.

Don't forget the 'getting to coop ready' part. They grow like weeds and will thrive being OUTSIDE as soon as possible. I brood directly in my coop using a brooder plate.

Welcome and congrats. Great breed selection as the Barred Plymouth Rock are my favorite breed out of the ones I’ve gotten so far (small sample size, but still!)
