I have a mix of 4 and 3 week old chicks, and I really need to put them outside into their coop this weekend. We have just built them an amazing coop, but they have quickly outgrown their indoor brooder box. they are feathering out very quickly (besides the silkies who are still fluff balls) But I have them under an eco glow brinsea brooder heater. It only gets down to the low 60's high 50's at night. If I put them in their coop with their eco glow, and a heat lamp for extra heat in case they get too cool for their liking, would it be okay to put them out there? Or is it just too soon to be bringing them outside?
I am asking this, and rushing a bit to have them in their coop because we are going on vacation in a week and I want to be able to monitor them for a week to see how they like it outside, before the babysitter for them watches them for the week. I want to put them in the coop because its just tooooo much for our sitter to clean them and change their brooder inside every day, where if they were in the coop she could just tousle up the bedding a bit each day. its stinky cleaning the brooder and i dont think she would be able to handle it at all!
please let me know if its okay to bring them outside!!!!! a heater lamp and an eco glow neadby in the coop, which i plan to have at the middle height ought to keep them warm enough at night right??
