Time in coop question

I would cover the top of that run to offer them more shaded area........ especially in these hot summer days.

Sorry, I do not see where you have said how many chickens? Are they sleeping under the coop? If so, I would guess they are comfortable there and would take steps to make the coop comfortable in the same way. I agree with the poster who said perhaps the coop is too hot, I don't see much in the way of ventilation in it. With that metal roof it probably heats up like an oven during the day, and the only shade available seems to be under the coop.
