Confinement is a black or white term, pen size allows for shades of gray. More natural behaviors could be realized in a much larger pen, like provided by 10+ horse stalls adjacent to an arena. I will still run with dog kennel this round.

On Sunday afternoon I removed the hen. She was being abused by cock. She not ready to come back into lay. To be expected as she had 15 embryos in incubator and two hatched as of this morning. Spurs on cock will also be trimmed. This weekend, same hen another being conditioned will be introduced to pen with an additional nest.
