Time of egg laying.

Sometimes they do, sometimes not. It takes 25 hours for an egg to go through development in a hen's system. Therefore, she will lay an hour later each day, until she skips a day. Not all hens lay an egg every day either, only the very productive Leghorns, and Isa Browns, and others bred for heavy egg laying.

Thank you....I guess what I meant was do hens generally lay in the morning or evening or just throughout the day? From reading your answer it sounds like through out the day if it's an hour later every time.

Yep, throughout the day. Especially the daily or near daily layers. After a day off, they will lay early in the morning and each successive day, lay later. I usually give up on eggs until roost time :)
