what time do bantam cochin roos (not sure if that makes a difference) ussually crow, i heard sunrise, but what time (lancaster county pa time) is this on average

Saltiena, I only have Light Brahmas that aren't bantam. My roo crows when he feels like it. Usually hours before daylight and then all day long whenever he needs to round the hens up, or just make sure everyone knows for sure he is the boss.

It is a misconception that roos only crow at daybreak, cause they crow all day long.

I enjoy the sound of a roo crowing, something I think a banty will do also.
This is my experience with my flock.

My roosters frequently engage in a cock-a-doodle-doo contest that can go on for HOURS. It doesn't bother me in the least, but you can tell when the horses have had enough because they do a lot of stamping and snorting in the roos' directions...then it starts to quiet down a bit. So in short, you have a bizarre roo if he only crows once at dawn and remains silent the rest of the day! ~ Oaknim

Our dearly departed Jerk Chicken (a golden comet) would crow all day, then let er rip around 11 pm, give another go at 1 am, and would cock a dddd (that was all he had in him) if you crowed at him. I missed the sound so much we had to get two more when he died. Vindaloo will crow at 6 am (eastern) if he thinks you are outside. otherwise he keeps a lid on it till 9 or so. its just a noise they make when they feel like it. I am not sure if bantams would be quieter...my sone can generate WAY more noise than me, and he's smaller than me.

I think all chickens, bantam or not, crow when they like.

I have 5 roos, not counting the pen of 23 half grown straight run EE which has quite a few but they're not crowing yet. The loudest by far is my oegb bantam roo, Leroy. He can be heard anytime after about 2am and through the day until he goes to sleep at night.

My bantam cochin does crow softer than a standard, but it is by no means quiet!
He does his first crow between 4:30am and 5:30am. I think he starts when the dogs wake up.
Some mornings he crows from inside his coop and others he stands on his "perch" (trashcan with the feed inside).
He will also crow during the day, especially when DH or I have "intruded" on his space (ie. cleaned the coop, changed the water, etc.).

My OEGB cockeral, Little PeeWee, had a crow that could shatter glass! My neighbors were NOT pleased with his crow BUT don't mind the deeper crow of my larger roo that I have now.
