Timed, battery powered light?

I would like to have supplemental light in my tractor. I was thinking of a battery powered light, because I don't want to run a cord out to the coop when it's always moving around. I can't seem to find one with a timer though. I don't want to have to turn it on and off all the time. Anyone know of a brand? Thanks.

Dont know a brand right off but try any l.e.d. they give good enough light and and do not tax a battery much . You can also use a solar powered light like you see on walkways at night, it will come on at dusk and off at dawn. Also a solar charger will work well on a rechargable battery.

edit to add - sporting goods store have rechargable batteries and solar chargers now for deer feeders and such.

Around here those little LED solar backyard lights are extremely cheap, they contain a rechargeable AA nicad battery and automatically come on at dusk and switch off (and recharge) during the day. They can run for several days even with no sun, and if you are really in a black hole you can recharge the nicads with any cheap battery charger. No wiring needed, you'd probably just need to modify (or replace) the supplied stake to attach it to the run.

earthnut - there are some solar lights that are designed for illuminating sheds, with the assumption that folks don't want to pull power to such structures. Not sure if this would help, and it doesn't have a timer, but wanted to give you that as an idea.

I have Some solar lights in the yard, but they don't stay on for long at all after dark. They wouldn't make an 8-hour winter day into a 14 hour one.

I put a shed light in my coop. It really did hold well, ecspecially in cold weather. Definately didnt make up a 14hr day.
