My tiniest Banty Hen,Pippen Was being servery bullied by the rest of the flock for a period of about 3 days. I noticed that her eye had been pecked so I removed her and made her her own little coop and run. She much happier now that she has her own place and is eating and drinking well but she still cannot or just wont open her eye. I know that the eyeball is still in there because I opened her lid and looked. Should I give her an antibiotic or do nothing at all??? Any response is very appreciated!

You might want to try putting colloidal silver into her eye.it is a natural antibiotic and promotes healing. you can get it at the health food store. Make sure you get the bottle with 400 parts per million of silver as it is stronger. use one drop three times a day.I use it on my chickens when they get eye irratations.it works wonderfully and is all natural. I hope this helps. Please keep us updated and please try the silver I know it will help her out a lot! Best wishes

You can flush it with some sterile saline solution or plain lubricating eye drops for humans (When I say plain, I mean not the sort of eye drops that "get the red out"). You can also use neosporin or generic petroleum based antibiotic ointment (not cream and no added pain relief ingredient) in the eye to prevent infection. Antibiotic ointment for the eyes is sold at some pharmacies, but it has the same active ingredients as neosprine.
