hello, they are so tiny I cannot get a good picture. They are fast tiny and black. I find them on the eggs and crawling on my hands after messing around in the coop. I especially see them when they run across my phone screen! Yuck! After finding them I always have giant red welts where I’m guessing they bit me. They welts are super itchy, sometimes blister, and always take over a month to go away. They are not on my chickens but I sprayed them for mites anyway. These are not red chicken mites or lice. I’m certain my guess is they are coming from the hay or bedding. Possibly straw itch mites. Is anyone familiar?? Help! How do I get rid of them? I hoped spraying for mites and dusting would eliminate them but this morning I couldn’t even count the number crawling on me!! Eeeeeek!!

A picture would help. What are you spraying with? I use permethrin spray and dust. I buy them at TSC. I get the concentrate spray and mix it with water in a gallon sprayer and spray my coops regularly, especially now. Last year I had an infestation and don't want another. I spray the inside of the coops thoroughly every crack an crevice everywhere, ceiling, walls, floor, nest boxes, on and under the roosts. It doesn't kill the pests eggs so repeat spraying is necessary. Good luck...
