Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I have a broody momma that just hatched 2 chicks (a week late!). They are silkies and teeny tiny. The coop is up off the ground, it is sitting on top of 4 cinder blocks. She took them outside today but I can't imagine them being able to get back inside tonight. What would you do? I could put a dog crate outside for them until they are big enough. I could try a ramp but it would have to be pretty big for them for to be able to use it (so that it isn't too steep.) I'm just a bit worried she'll leave them outside if they can't get back in, I think this happened to one of my other chicks in a different coop.

Can you just scoop them up and put them back in the coop? It doesn't seem like a good idea for them to be outside at night, especially if mama is inside.

I could, I'm mostly just worried I won't find them until it's too late. I might just have to sit outside I guess and watch.

If it’s secure from predators a dog kennel or maybe even a cat crate could work (ish) for a few weeks.
