So do I need to keep holding it a lot for it to stay bonded to me?

The duck in my profile pic imprinted on me, her name is Penguin. For the first month she was with me everywhere I went!! She can be a little uh.. feisty because she is not scared of me at all, so if she goes broody she will protec her eggs from me by attacking my hands and feet

Yeah you are its momma now, its gonna want to spend all its time with you. Generally the only way I found to let penguin give me a break and stop peeping when I left her alone was to put them in a warm dark place then they just fall asleep. I had a hamster cage set up for Penguin at first, it was on my bedside stand with a heating pad under half of it. When I needed to sleep I would just put a fleece blanket over it and she went right to sleep
