This tiny egg was laid by one of our one year olds today. Any explanation? She normally lays medium to large size eggs. I assume this can just happen sometimes. Sure is cute!

Not sure why it happens. I got one last week, smaller than the one in your picture. My guess is that a yolk doesn't get released, but the egg cycle still continues, since there will only be white when you open it.

Ooh, you'll have to let us know if it is yolkless! It is pretty cute!

That's called a wind or a fart egg. I had one a couple months ago with a yolk about the size of a pencil eraser and very thick albumin. Interesting little fact- the wind egg floated when the float test was done on it. I doubt it was a bad egg, but we didn't eat it anyways.

Just a glitch in the plumbing.

All of the eggs we get from our bantam flock are pretty small to begin with (25-35 grams), but last week we got one that was smaller than even a dove egg. It was only 4 grams!

I call these "luck" eggs! I keep mine in a birds nest for display. I am still hoping my Easter Egger's will lay one. I am lacking a tiny green egg!!
