Tiny egg

I collected eggs today and found an egg a little smaller than a Robin egg.

Here it is next to one of our regular eggs.

Here is what it looked like cracked

What causes this?

I used to get this alot. I think tis just a fluke, caused by age or nutrition or ?
Its pretty cool though. I got an egg from my phoenix that was only a little bigger than a dime.

I believe you have what is commonly called...a fart egg!
Just happens sometimes. Usually, I believe, when you have a new layer, but don't quote me, I have never gotten one. They usually are either empty or they have just white in them.

All of my chickens are 1 1/2. I do have two girls that have decided to keep getting trapped so they haven't gotten as much food as they should. Now that the weather has calmed down I can solve that issue.

It's a hiccup in the egg chain. I can not give an explanation based on any facts but it happens once in a while to me. Kinda interesting in the whole scheme of things though. I had one girl lay to of those in one day. Why?

Ok I did find another threat about fart eggs. Crazy I wonder who did it. My first fart egg.

We had a fart egg shortly after our hens started laying.
Definitely surprised to find that little one in there!

I get one of those from time to time. I can't really make any good relationship between any particular part of their laying cycle and fart eggs. They just happen sometimes. No problem.
