tiny eggs

Hi, I have 18 barred rock hens, and sometimes when I collect eggs there is a very small egg about the size of the end of my thumb. can anyone tell me why?

It's called a wind egg; that happens somethings when they are just beginning to lay. Nothing to worry about.
