hey guys.....I have a small chicken 1 year old, She is from my first flock...we bought all pullets, so I dont know what kind she is, but I thought she was a bantum....she tan colored, very small waddles when she walks, and has hair on her lil feet and lil legs. thats why I picked her. Anyway, I dont know whats happening...all of a sudden Im getting these tiny eggs, that dont even register on the scale, compared to my other layers. I would put a pic on here, but for some reason cant get one to stick. So Im thinking WOW seriously? she just started laying and she is a year old, and she is giving me one everyday now. they are very small, and when I say that I mean a 1/4 of the size of the reg. layers......they are tan colored like her...she is a lil doll, Now that said, she is very skidish, and I have 2 goldens, and they are used to her by now, and she them, althought Sammy likes to play chase with her. Did she just start laying, and these eggs are going to get bigger, or was she scared of Sammy and just didnt lay until now. I mean he doesnt pick her out, and she actually stays around the coop more than the others. but they all free range.....she doesnt act sick, but she is hard to catch....Anyone have any ideas.?????Thanks Deb

hi Debbie. they might get bigger as she gets more accustomed to laying. however because she's a bantam she likely will have smaller eggs. I have silkies and they lay smaller eggs but they are still delicious. they are not THAT much smaller than regular eggs though. I am not sure of her breed but hopefully they will get a bit bigger but don't expect full size eggs from a bantam. but they should not be that small. I guess just wait and see. hopefully they will get bigger as her body adjusts to laying. I wish you the best! good luck!

Thankyou so much. I just couldnt believe she just started laying but im not that familiar yet with everything. We just brought home 20 new chicks about 10 weeks ago....and they are in a different coop...im selling my egg small business to help supplement my disability. Thankyou so much for your reply...and I will wait a few weeks to see what happens. <3
