Hey all, I am starting up a new flock north of Houston. First time raising birds, with a momma of unknown origin and eight chicks. Built a quick pen, with plans to expand this weekend. The neighbor's free range flock was ravaged by a couple of strays, and these guys were spared. They weren't injured, but he was struggling to keep them alive. I couldn't say no when he asked if I would take them. I am guessing she is some variety of banty, as she's pretty small compared to the reds my brother used to raise. Two days in, so far so good.

Hello there, and welcome to Backyard chickens! So glad you joined us, and glad you rescued the chickens! Stray dogs are a pain in the butt, I have had a couple run ins with them and my chickens. I hope you enjoy BYC as much as I have!
