Tiny the Terrorist Attack Hen! Will She Become a Suicide Flogger?

They are both 1/2 Delaware, which is where Deacon gets his barring gene and the reason Raven looks like a sex link, because she is. Remember that a Delaware is a silver based white barred bird, with a gene that hides the barring in the body, but allows it to show in hackles and tail feathers. The rooster in my avatar has the same sire, but his mother is a Barred Plymouth Rock.

Tiny is doing well in the Old Hens' Coop now that she decided it was safe to go outside. She is laying and still being a terrorist when she wants you to hold her and you try to ignore the crazy wench. She's turned 4 years old now.

Glad tiny is doing well. Are you thinking of hatching some more of her eggs this spring on purpose instead by accident, so that you can get some nice daughter hens like Raven ? (Or Meat male birds who if they end up with Tiny's personality, so you won't get attached too. )

No, no more of Tiny's progeny. She is not with a rooster now and I don't plan to subject her to one. Her son, Deacon, is the epitome of the term "pet rooster" and roams this place at will, no matter which group is free ranging. He's friendly and personable, greeting anyone who comes here at the front steps, making a general pest of himself. I think one goober is about all I can handle around this place, LOL.

Well at least you will have future Tiny grandchildren and great grandchildren to look too. And I am sure Tiny will live to see those, though she won't know or care.

Actually, I'm not planning to reproduce Deacon, either. I don't want to risk any progeny inheriting his gift of flight, which is why he is able to go wherever he wants to go. He's a fun guy but the buck stops with him, I'm afraid.

Tiny pulled a stunt today that could have gotten her hurt. She must have flown up, probably being harassed by her coop mates in the Old Hens' Coop, and somehow landed in the Orp pen. I was walking by their coop's screen door when I glanced in to see what I thought was the black bantam Cochin rooster on the roost shelf, but it registered that he was too skinny. Then, I saw Xander on the floor and realized that Tiny was in their coop!

She finally ran outside and mostly was ignored except by blue meanie Dusty, who hit stalked her and hit her with both feet. Xander didn't even want her in there, much to my surprise. I thought he'd start flirting, but he was hostile and chased her around, looking at me like, "Well, DO something!". Amazing. Guess he thinks she's defective because she's not round and 2 ft wide like his own big boned women, LOL.

I pulled up a chair and let her stew in her own juices for awhile, then rescued her.
