I have two ducks, one male one female (The drake has not been rough with her at all and im planning on getting some more hens in the spring) but they are in with some chickens. The coop will be insulated and they will have acess to the outside if they want to. Whats the best way to keep their feet from freezing and avoid an icy mess around the water dish?

lots of hay and shavings! ours come inside if it gets too cold, but i let them stay outside as much as possible (besides indoor cuddles) because they actually love playing in the fall/winter

We don't know where you live, thus we do not know your climate, thus we cannot provide useful advice. Please put your location in your profile.

Ducks are far more cold-hardy than both humans and chickens.

it is not cold where I live but I put a few old tyres around. both chickens and ducks like to sit on the tyres when it gets cold.
