OMG are they ever sweet! I won't try to guess at breed but if you got them at TC, what breeds do they normally bring in? Surely, they must have a standard list of types they carry.
I actually started with ducks, so had no chicken experience, now after raising chicks i'd say the main difference is MESS and water which of coarse leads back to the first one, MESS lol. After that i didn't find you need much different than you do for raising chicks, safe, clean warm.. is the standard.
Now i have several kids, so the ducks/chicks around here get touched(there not little kids) so there not man handled but my point being they were socialized lol Food is a great motivator, now a few years later since getting ours, we have successfully, hatched our own via ducks and raised more as ducklings, plus added the chickens ... i think the KISS plan is best, keep it simple, they are simple animals, not stupid mind you, just routine, simplistic.
