So about 2 years ago I asked about getting a harness for our drake as I wanted to start taking him with me on my bike rides into town. Unfortunately I won't be able to get him a harness for another few weeks once I start getting paid. As of recently I had to separate Colonel from the whole flock as everyone started to gang up on him including the ducks. Anyway, as he is now alone I figured that since I have a big enough basket to fit him in, I was going to start taking him with me on my bike rides.
Before anyone gets on me about taking him out for a bike ride, please understand that I currently I only go for a quick 5-6 minute ride around my neighborhood as we're starting to get summer temps and I don't want to stay out too long since our mornings have been a little too warm for me as well.
For anyone wondering about the basket, it's tall enough that he'd have to really put a whole lot of effort to jump out and even then, I'd be able to keep him from doing so anyway. Also I keep a water bottle on me with ice in it to drink so I can definitely let him drink some cool water from my hands.

Any tips to get him use to the basket?
Since he normally stays still if a towel or blanket is wrapped around him, would that help with taking him in the basket??

don’t let anyone tell you not to take him/ducks aren’t meant to go places, my ducks LOVE their “walkies” and adventures!

get him used to just wearing the harness around before you start clipping a leash to it or anything, also just get him used to sitting in th basket without moving the bike

I don't have a harness yet as I said in the post

I did this. You need to have a strong bond with one.

Could you rig up a top for the basket that had an opening for his head to go through but not his body? It seems like that might keep him calm and contained like being wrapped up in a towel but there would be no way he could get out and injure himself.
