About a week and a half ago I got a lab mix, come along two or three days later I got a Great Pyrénées.Its fun having puppies until they get to lazy to use the restroom and get in bad habits of using it in the house. The lab is Max,usually good about pooping but this morning he was lazy and throwing up,unsure if it is because the switch of their feed (We ran out of puppy food)or what but this dog WONT POOP OUTSIDE this morning. He was going to use it in the house but I caught him and we went outside, and have been here for about thirty probably not minutes and he is holding it in.Took him for walks on a leash and tugged him and everything. He is refusing. So I’m just throwing him outdoors till he uses it because this is ridiculous. They wait to use the restroom indoors, when they have all the opportunity to use outdoors. Before max can eoutisde he stopped and peed on his way out, please help.

Yell at them when you catch them doing it in the house, there is not point in yelling at them when you find the poop though, they usually won't remember that they did it and you won't be able to tell who did it. I would honestly put them in a small crate overnight at this point, that way they will hold it all night and have to go really bad in the morning. Then you bring them out in the morning and wait for them to go to the bathroom, you could bring them to a spot where you would like them to automatically go in the future and when you are at this spot just keep on saying "go to the bathroom" or whatever you want and then once they do reward them by giving them a treat and petting them. If you consistently do this then they will realize that when they go outside and go to the bathroom they get rewarded but if they do it inside they get yelled at and then they will hold it until you bring them out. You can do the same thing without the crate but the crate just speeds up the process and it also angers some people unfortunately.

We’re definitely getting kennels, and I am always saying good boy when they use outside.will need to acquire more beggin stripes

Dogs don't go to the bathroom in the house because they are lazy. It's more likely it's because the owners are lazy.
Throwing them outside until they do go isn't going to anything for training.
Yelling at your puppy isn't going to do a whole lot for training. If they go inside don't show any reaction. You can quietly and quickly pick them up and take them outside but that's about all.
You need to take your puppy out constantly. Don't wait till you think they need to go. Take them out every time they eat or drink. Everytime as soon as they wake up from a nap. Every morning first thing. After every time you are playing with them vigorously. etc.
When they do use bathroom outside praise the hell out of them and treats if you have any. Let them get the idea that what they just did is the greatest thing in the world and that it pleases you to no end.
Dogs really want to please you and they will soon figure out going bathroom outside is going to make you happy and that makes them happy.

Treat your dog like a baby. What Moonshiner said; every time they eat. Every time they drink. Every time they wake up from a nap, and at least every two hours whether they've done any of those or not. Day and night. Keep them right by you at all times, reprimand with strong disapproval when they have an accident, reward and praise with excitement when they go outside. I would wait until my Aussie mix was starting to squat, and tell her 'Go potty!' while she did it, with a treat when she was done. Now she's nine, and she goes on command, even if all she can do is squeeze a few drops. The only time she's had an accident since she got the idea, was when she got into a dead bird on the beach. I didn't think she'd actually gotten to it. Poor girl got projectile diarrhea, woke from a nap, bolted for the door frantically... and didn't make it.

I think we were on the right track but oen day we had to leave and they used the restroom everywhere in the house.I take them out after meal and every nap,and first thing in tHe morning (five o clock). And most of The I’m outside, unless really hot and their outside with me.

Make sure that you got ALL mess and odor from a mess out of the house. Dogs go where they smell that they've gone before, or that other dogs have. As long as they can smell their mess inside, instinct tells them 'go here'. Even if you can't smell it, they can.

I agree. Limit their freedom. Make them stay in the same room with you when they are in the house, that way you can correct any behavior issues before it becomes a habit. Take how many months they are into consideration as too how long you go inbetween taking them out. One month every hour, two months every other hour etc. They don't mean to be naughty.

The age makes a huge difference. Before 12 weeks they don't have much control and need to go out to do their business ever 1-2 hours. They also need to go out immediately upon waking and about 20 minutes after eating. If you are vigilant about this this you should see improvement. Lots of praise when the pee and poop outside. Also do not play with them outside until after they pee or poop. No fetch, no chase, no wrestling. They need to learn that going out is a business trip and if they are successful they can also have some fun out there. Keeping them leashed until they pee/poop in the appropriate place helps, you can let them off leash after as a reward if you want. Most dogs are happy to please. Good luck. It will get easier, I promise. You are right though, the switch in food could mess with their schedule.

It sounds like your on the right track. They just had to much freedom while you were out and abused it.
