Tips on telling if a chick is a rooster.

Hi all, I have a 1 week old Rhode Island Red chick. I was wondering if there is a way to tell if he/she is a rooster right now?

@MysteryChicken is great at wing sexing chicks up to one week old. Not sure if it will work.
Other than that, I don't believe there is an accurate way of sexing 1 week old chicks.

DNA testing exists, but of course it costs some money, and it takes a certain amount of time to get results anyway:

For most people, the best choice is to just wait until the bird is 6-8 weeks old.

You are correct. Not many people want to spend money and wait another few weeks to get results though. Hopefully @MysteryChicken can chime in and tell us if she's able to do the wing sexing for this 1 week old chick.

@saz5333 - can you post photos of the chick's wing spread out? Multiple photos will be best.
