My hens have nice quiet nesting boxes, with curtains for added privacy. I also put golf balls in the nesting boxes, any other ideas of what I could do or try to encourage them to sit on their eggs?

I am no expert but I found that some will sit and some won’t. I had a silkies that practically lived in the nest box and one other hen that really was an excellent mom. The latest 4 hens would never sit.

I’m trying some different breeds now in hopes to find a good mom.

Thanks for the input! What breed was your hen that was a good mom? Was she a silkie too?

She was a red sex link.
And I’m pretty sure they are not known to be good moms but I didn’t even have to separate her from the other hens and the roo. She was the best mom ever. Nobody messed with her chicks
