tired of being called a redneck

Redneck is NOT a derogatory name!
I am a Redneck and very proud of it! Unfortunatly people missunderstand or have no clue to the real meaning of a word/name. A redneck is just a regular hardworking person. They are ones that do anything and everything possible to be sure that their family is taken care of. Even if it means doing menial back breaking labor in the burning sun.<---(REDNECK) A true redneck is a person who cares more about their family, friends and neighbors than they do about them selves. They are the ones who stop and check on people who are broke down on the side of the road. They are the ones who wave when passing by another car. They are the ones who check in on neighbors who have been sick. They are the ones who give with out expecting anything in return. They are the ones who will give a total stranger their last penny and smile. They are the ones who will envite anyone whos hungry home to supper. They are the first ones to be asked to help and will be happy to.....ect. Living in the country, driving a truck, owning animals, speaking with a southern accent, hunting and so on DOES NOT make you a Redneck!!!!! You might be a HillBilly, a Country Bumpkin, a Hick, a Cowboy, or something along those lines but even that does NOT make you a Redneck! To be called a Redneck is a badge of honor! It is something more people in this world need to strive for!
I AM A REDNECK and extremely proud of it!!!
Oh yeah, a Redneck could give two flips about being called names. They foregive and forget. They know in their hearts, Everyone will have to answer for everything they say or do in their life. Judge Not, Lest ye be judged!

Good luck and God Bless!

AMEN!!

In my neck of the woods...Redneck isnt a "low class"trait. I am a redneck in every sense of the word. And was kinda offended by that referral. But I wont make nothin' of it...I have friends or aquaintances that say silly stuff all the time about why I mess with chickens or whatever. I dont get offended by there remarks though. Heck, be proud to be called a redneck..I know I am!!!!

Funny it reminded me of what a friend said whose husband is laid off and I've been giving them eggs, "At least I know we'll have eggs". I was also giving away vegetables last fall.

If my hands are dirty and my neck is red then you know I'll have something when you want to be fed!

I've always been a bit redneck. Over the years the title has ceased to bother me. Be proud of who you are, redneck or not and try not to let peoples outdated opinions get to you.(Yeah, I know, easier said than done!

OK....now THAT is a name! I LOVE IT!!!!

As far as ignoramouses and their bigotry towards having chickens....my mom thought I was going 'bonkers' and thought I was 'weird'. Rolled her eyes at me etc etc. THEN she started talking to people in her second home city and realized chicken keeping is actually kinda 'cool' (even her brother, my uncle was FACINATED by my hobby).

Well...they finally went back to their primary home (winter home) and she told me she didn't think I was SO crazy anymore and actually would LOVE to have me and my chickens close enough to her so she wouldn't have to pay $4 + a DOZEN for eggs at the store!

Once my EE started laying her green eggs...and my different varieties of brown eggs from the others....looking at a mixed dozen one night I told my husband...."Now who would want to buy/eat BORING Ol' PLAIN ol' white eggs when you could have all THIS color?!?!?!" My hubby has 'rednecks' lining up at work to 'barter' for some of our 'fresh' eggs! We've been given smoked ribs, tools, heck...I'm working on a trade for some venison (& we live in a metro area)!
I worked with a girl who was DYING to be considered a "redneck" (gun-toting, ATV riding...all your stereo type stuff). Silly. I consider myself being "country" (share what you have with others, SINCERE, offer to help, etc). So what if I live in the burbs? lol Call me ignorant, crazy, redneck whatever! I've got FRESH, colorful eggs from my WONDERFUL pets (cats bring you mice...but unless you're really hungry you don't EAT their 'offerings'!)! PLUS pest control for the grasshoppers/japanese beatles AND a constant supply of AWESOME fertilizer! (comparatively...my yard is blooming like mad!) I also garden, can, make soap...heck...I'd do a lot more if I didn't HAVE to work (to pay for that suburban home)!

Sooner or later....they'll come around! Or they'll STARVE! Let them think what they want...they're more AFRAID of knowing where their food comes from! The more I think about it...the more I wonder about mass-produced food...YUCK! My in-laws now live in chicken-country...and they don't even know the REAL conditions of layers! When I tell them...they're SHOCKED! (Go figure!) Still haven't convinced them to take some eggs though....I'm working on um!

We're all here for you and we're all CHICKEN HAVING, GARDENING PEOPLE! They're missing out....that's all there is to it! (More chickens for us!!!)
