Childhood memories. I can remember back on the farm my grandmother had every sort of fowl imaginable. Ducks, geese, chickens, turkeys and guinea. I remember one time my uncles showing me a hen that had come off the nest with chicks. What really stood out was that she had spurs! Not only could she beat her wings but she had weapons, sharp as a briar mind you. You couldn't ask for a better mother for babies and boy did she do a good job. This had me thinking about getting rid of the incubator and putting my hatching eggs under her and let mother nature do her thing. Something to think about. Further research has proved that some non/not really game hens also grow spurs such as leghorns and even buttercups. (Mclean hatch shown)
