Hi. Currently, I have a house Rooster that has started sleeping alot even standing. He has never been outside as he was a late hatch and not accepted by the hens when young. Then winter hit so he has grown up inside. He is eating and drinking alright but tends to keep pulling his neck feathers and down out.

Not sure what to check for and any help would be appreciated.

Where do you live, and how are the temperatures there? How does his crop feel—empty and flat, full and hard, doughy, or puffy like a balloon? Have you checked him for lice or mites on his skin? What do you feed him? Does he have poultry granite grit available? Do you have any pictures of his typical droppings? Coccidiosis could be a possible problem, but it could be a crop some other problem. Do you have a local vet who could test his droppings for coccidia and worms?

Hi. I am in Ontario. Temperatures are up and down but he is in the house so that is not an issue. Crop is empty and flat, no signs of lice or mites, has access to grit and his feed is a mix of layer crumb and cracked corn. He also gets cooked veggies and oat sprouts once a week. For the most part poop is normal but he does have two to three watery ones a day. I believe our vet's office can and I will call them to make sure b

:loveHe is a pretty roo! Could be finishing off his molt and might need some extra protein, like scrambled eggs. I would take him off the layer feed and get some all flock or grower feed for him. I read that the extra calcium is not good for roosters.

I agree with switching to the all flock or grower. I'd also be tempted to provide some vitamins as he almost appears to be anemic.
I started vitamins today. Are there other reasons he may be anemic with no signs of lice or mites?
