So, I'm curious if what I saw today is standard procedure. It's a gorgeous day today, and there my boys would be, lying in the sun, peacefully enjoying the warm weather, when BAM, a female would run up and dive under his beak, disrupting his quiet time. Then the female would run about 3', and squat so her back was higher than her front. Well, ofcourse the male would jump up and jump on, I mean they're practically sticking it in their face, so to speak.
This happened twice - the "twins". So I take it this is standard m.o., or the evil twins are just depraved floosies.

Very colorful description! :gig I am guessing that your guys, sitting in the sun, are “assuming the position “. The cocks take this hunched, sleepy looking position and may make a quiet buzzing call while the hens forage around him. That’s his signal to the hens that he’s feeling amorous. If the hen wants to take him up on the offer, she rushes just past him and he jumps up and jumps on for a very quick ride. I’d have to defend the character of your gals by saying that he was asking for it first, she just took him up on the offer!:lau

I wasn't close enough to hear buzzing, but I always thought in interesting that it was the boys who would opt to sun themselves, so thank you for explaining. I thought he rude to charge up to him like that while's relaxing! I've seen the hens crouch like that before but not the charging at them. Ofcourse, Nug went for Mouse and Blue went for Bella, soI'll prob end up w/a load of grays.
