Did you see the big blue one or the mini version I just finished for the silkies? The mini is a smaller version of the original. You could totally build either one.

I would be happy to talk you through it.

Citygirl I saw the big blue one on your BYC page. How many chickens will you hold in that one. I have 8 now but may in a week or 2 get up to 4 more! 2 sq foot for silikes right. You have silkies? Where did you find them in this area? I would love to see pics! I do not expect my quality to be so great but they are not to show just to keep me busy.

I have a white, blue and buff from hatcheries and 5 buffs from a breeder line. I hope to start breeding those soon. They aren't laying yet, but hopefully will soon! I have pictures on the silkie thread and on my blog. The buffs came from a guy in Knoxville. The white and blue came from MyPetChicken and the buff came from Tractor Supply.

I have pictures of the silkie coop up on the Coop section. I posted them last night. The big blue coop is for my ameraucanas. There are only 7 chickens in it right now, but it feels like it should hold a few more. I think the official rule of thumb is 2 square feet per chicken. I think that may be for chickens that are coop bound though. Mine pretty much only sleep in the coop and they like to all cram up on the roosts. In the blue coop they roost on the high cross brace (a design flaw there!) and on one of the roosts. The other roosts are empty. I let them out every morning and they spend the day under the coop and in the run. When I'm home they get to free range.

I think there are some other BYCers in Woodbury. I know there are a bunch around Middle TN. We are everywhere!
