It's THAT time of year again in East Tennessee!
August 8-15th
Cocke County Fairgrounds - I-40 Exit 432b in Newport

Lets all check in here and setup our meet!

Lexi & I of course will be there, as will some of our birds.
Thinking about letting Lexi enter Steve again since he's here and not doing too much and possibly Miguel our Black Orpington Rooster... maybe some hens too... but they aren't looking so great... but the white ones are ok still since they aren't breeding yet... so maybe..

Sound off... and SEE YOU SOON!
And if I still have these little white orps around, I'll be setting up a pen to sell them off for sure

I'll probably be going! I may put in a black Cochin rooster if he would just grow his feathers in after his vent was trimmed, but he's due a good molt! Maybe the Polish hen i entered in the spring show, her crest has filled out some more and I'm sure she's do better if she had a bath this time!!!

Hopefully a nice birchen Cochin hen and who knows what else!
I'm sure it'll be just as fun as the last one- minus the rain, hopefully!

So I have a question, is it typical for the shows that you have to have your birds on site for so long? Maybe I am just paranoid but I am not comfortable leaving my birds anywhere that long but I am also coming from the dog world where people come in and take dogs from the site and then you are only there during the day time and dogs are NOT allowed to stay overnight

It is for the annual A&I Fair. Because the fair lasts the whole time, the poultry is on display for the whole time. I was uncomfortable with this at first too. They say they have 24 hour security.

My problem last year wasn't the security really, it was such a small area to live in for one week and no perches... but honestly, they survive just fine. Besides show chickens should be prepped for that kinda thing anyway.

Cool. None of my chickens are show quality anyways right now but I was just wondering

I will probably try to show up to say hey to everyone again !
