Thanks for the add. My name is Tamie and I live in Middle Tennessee with my Kiddos, Chickens, and Kitties on about 60 acres.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We are not new to chickens. We have had chickens on and off for the last 20 years. Our newest flock is almost 2 years old.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We have about 26 chickens right now. We are hoping to add and subtract in the coming months... Chicken Math
(3) What breeds do you have?
We have Brahmas, Cream Legbar, Easter Eggers, Sapphire Gem, Bielfelder, and Amber Star. We have also some barnyard mix chickens.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Our favorite aspects of having chickens are watching their antics. Eggs are a great perk. We also love the insect control they provide.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I enjoy gardening, cooking, baking, canning, sewing, crochet, reading, learning new things, carpentry, and going to the beach.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I'm a single mother of 4 kids, most of them are grown now. We have 4 kitties and we also foster kitties through the local Humane society. I am a bookkeeper by trade and also have a Selfcare Blog called Relate Technologies.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found BYC through google looking for a recipe for Gluten free chicken feed. I probably have read posts from the BYC blog here and there for a couple of years.
