[My Very First 6 Chickens]

I wanted to say thank you to all the experienced chicken lovers. There are SO many new chicken owners out there and I know some of you experts are so active helping us. I know some of you, because your love of chickens, feel obligated to guide us and help us noobs. I joined BYC with 6 3day old BSL’s and not a single day experience. Since then, I have needed lots of guidance and support. I frequent BYC multiple times a day reading posts and learning from you pros. I cant thank you enough. I guess what I’m trying to say, is, as enjoyable as it is to see cute pics and like threads of thriving flocks, the opposite is true too. You all jump to attention when people have serious problems and concerns. You jump to attention and are not afraid to get your hands dirty. I have seen it time and time again. Your advice is sound, sincere and serious. YOU have helped so many people and that really means something. BYC is a treasure to me. I see the same peoples names offering advice consistently. Just Thank you. Your knowledge is helping the world enjoy their flocks and minimize stress and worry leaving time to enjoy all.

Hi, what beautiful chickens, what breed? I have 3 hens. One is an Aracauna who lays light green eggs, a red sex- link who lays light brown eggs and a Barred Rock who does not lay.
I'm on a farm in northeast Nebraska and we're pretty much retired. About mid- Nov I take the 3 hens to my sister-in-law who puts them with her flock until I get them in April. I know my Araucana but the other 2 I get is always a mystery....the first 2 we catch! Neither of us care as in the past we've traded some and except for Bella, my Araucana, the rest of the flock we can't tell any certain features to distinguish hers or mine. I don't have a way to keep water from freezing so it's good of her to take in my 3 for their Winter Vacation down south. It's so interesting to read all of the posts here. Thanks to all of you from an ex-trail rider of the best mule ever, Gus.

Yes, I agree too! I have collected the very best books, done so much research, but the ability to type out a question or concern and have it immediately answered by a variety of ppl with varying views is fantastic!
