...I'll need to put in for time off. Does two days before, hatch day, and three days after sound right? Should I put in for more?

If you still wanna be home when your chicks hatch even if what chickencanoe said is correct, (i don’t blame you) then yeah sure you can do what you said above. 3 days after seems like a lot of you want to cut it back but if not, go ahead!

I hear yah. I wanna be around to assist if needed. I’m a meddler! But no way I can get a whole day off right now at my work :(

@BrooksHatlen , I understand, especially if this is your first hatch! I spent hours staring at that egg break apart little by little, roll around later on. . . and then when she came out, the peep threw herself at me, looking right into my eyes! I can wax poetic about it, for sure! :ya

I say, go for it!

It would be in three weeks, if I started today. Screw em, they can get by w/o me just like I got by w/o others.
I too understand if this is one of your first hatches.
Sometimes I hatch weekly, I never assist. If I have provided optimal incubation and hatching conditions up to my ability, if they don't pop out on their own, I don't want to reproduce birds that need help to hatch.

When I had a good job, I didn't want to be the one to educate my employer that they could get by without me. Jobs disappear all the time.
