With a different perspective--
We have pastured birds behind a 4' fence, and every single one of them has both wings clipped. Otherwise, they are all over my yard and my neighbor's yard, and they are terribly destructive. I couldnt' have them at all if they didn't stay behind their fence.
We do get some predation every year, but I don't think being able to fly would have helped those birds, since it was hawks that ate them. And we have had dogs attack, but every single time it was because I let them out into my garden to play. They would have been absolutely fine behind their fence. So for my flock, they're a lot safer with their wings clipped, and behind that fence.
