We had a sick silkie for a few days then returned her due to selling us a sick chicken. Her symptoms were watery eyes, labored breathing, runny nose, wouldn't eat, and sneezing. Now my RSL was showing similar symptoms yesterday. Runny nose, head shaking, fluffed up all day, her face got a little swollen too. No eating or drinking until late last night. Now here's the kicker, she's doing a ton better today. The runny nose is gone, she's acting and eating normally. I'd hate for this to be MG because we have babies in the brooder and we'd have to cull her. What are your thoughts? She's our first chicken, and a pet. I'd love for this to be something that goes away with no lingering but I think it could be more serious. :(

If she's getting better, then great?

Quarantine her, just in case. Make sure that you change clothes and wash up before handling the chicks after hanging out with your sex link.

I wouldn't cull if she's getting better, but you also don't want to give it to the chicks. Just be extra cautious.

The babies are in a brooder in the house. The chicken is outside. I'm not letting anyone touch the babies except me right now, if I touch the chicken I shower and change clothes before contact. I've been avoiding touching her for the last two days, which isn't too hard. She likes me around her but not touching her. She look totally fine now except the head shaking. Glad to know she could possibly be fine. I haven't given her anything different. Just her normal food and acv in her water.
