To cull or not to cull

@Waves thank you for sharing with me. I truley understand. Heck, I've walked in to 2 of my favorite chickens still "asleep" in the morning and had to go get someone because I cannot.
And I understand how hard the goodbyes can be. Today I had to decide if I was going to let her pass or try to prolong it (I have a remedy my mom created for Ms. Green that helped extend her life). I could tell my poor girl was in too much pain. I held her, cried a lot, pet her and just told her how beautiful she was, how kind and sweet, how I love her, how shes my hero, and how sorry I am. Before I closed the door I told her that I'll see her again. I believe that one day I will, because without that to believe I can not cope. I have had to say good bye to many birds. The most I can do is tell them how loved they are. I hope it's enough.

I'm sure Panta and Nana are meeting each other right now and looking down at their silly humans.

You are generous to share this difficult decision with us. I know a time like this will come for me eventually. I hope to have the level of grace and compassion that you had for Nana. 😞

@deidreg I am sure you will. I know this isn't a happy post at all (which I made up for by making happy ones) but I felt it was nessary because people look on here for advice and what to do and to learn from others. My tragedy is another cautionary tale, you know?
