I sometimes use an Amope (those tools with a rotating sanding/emery board thing). Works great and doesn't stress me out. I use it on beaks and spurs, too.

Yes, just like a dog's nail. If you're having trouble seeing where the quick is, try taking a flashlight and shining it from behind the nail. That should light the quick right up for you.Is there a quick like dogs ? How can you make sure you trim safely ?
