I have two female kcs and 2 female whs. I want to add 1 drake this spring. Anyone have any recommendations to what breed would be best ? I ask because I had two Pekin Drake's and they beat the crap out of the girls non stop and they were like twice the size. I'm thinking a smaller breed drake would be best.

In general I would just recommend a breed that you already have. If you're looking to expand the breeds you have, then I would recommend an Indian Runner drake. They are small (kc's are bred from them i believe) and have generally great personalities. None of our Runner drakes have ever been aggressive.

We have a Rouen as well named Willie he’s super calm and the girls love him.
I can totally see the boy pekins being annoying our 3 girl pekins can be such bullies.
I personally would go with runner because I want one so bad!
Drakes are so adorable in my opinion if they layed eggs I would have only boys lol that little frog voice is my favorite thing in the world.

Awww Willie is a great name! I wasn't sure if that is a Rouen drake trait or not but at least there are two Rouen gentlemen! My pekin girls are sweet (also the youngest of them all) but they will run everybody else over without blinking an eye so I can only imagine how the pekin drakes could be.

The Pekin girls here are actually above all the drakes right now in pecking order. That might change come spring time, but for now nothing gets in the 2 Pekin ladies way. Not even the king of the yard rooster. They're like feathered bowling balls when they think there is food around.

The Ancona drakes are actually very sweet too. My favorite individual drake is Terry the Ancona, but as a breed, our Ancona are fine hanging out by themselves. The Runners are just more people friendly, in the aspect that they want to be around you.
