My girls have some tapeworm segments/eggs (the little white dots that move like zombies) in their poop. I’m in the process of worming them with zimecterin gold horse paste, once and then again in 10days. I’m about a week into my first dose & it’s killing me to toss the eggs. Does anyone ever eat theirs or maybe eat one egg from wormed mixed with a non wormed egg(store bought for example, I’m worming my whole flock). I know you can cook them & feed them back but I’m a grad student who works and has an internship so cooking & cleaning a meal for my chickens isn’t something I quite have time for. Let me know what you guys do with your eggs & if you ever throw caution to the wind & eat them.

I had the same problem with worms and I am still in the process of deworming. Those little worms are disgusting to see.
I use Roosty's Natural Chicken Dewormer. It has natural ingredients so you can still eat the eggs.
Here is the link to the pills:

I would suggest these if you do not wish to throw out your eggs when deworming.

There's no need to worm your whole flock when it comes to tapeworms, unlike roundworms. You only have to worm the birds that have segments in feces. You can use a black magic marker to mark the combs by process of elimination of which birds have a the segments and the ones that dont. You might be surprised that only two or three birds might be tapeworm infected.
Insects are the vector for tapeworms in poultry. Not every insect is tapeworm infected. I've dealt with tapeworms.

We have been fighting tape worm and it just keeps coming back. We have a plethora or crickets and I think that is where they are getting them. What to use to get rid of the insects! I am at a loss for what I can use around the fluff nuggets

If you only worm the infected chickens ... how do you know which eggs come from the treated hens? And nobody has answered the OP question: do you discard the eggs, or not?

I fed the eggs back to the chickens with their egg shells the first week of treatment. Then every other day.
No eggs for us for 14 days after the second treatment so 28 days no eggs. I did the older part of my Flock so only eating younger chickens eggs. They are deferent colors and smaller eggs so we can identify. However I only had two hens not showing signs of tape worms so I treated them anyways assuming that it was not far behind.
Now young chickens have sign of tape worm so we will begin treatment and same thing. Feed eggs back or toss them I think people suggest 10 days- we do 14 each treatment to be safe.

When I say my whole flock I mean all 5, that makes it a lot easier to figure out who has it and who’s eggs are who’s (all different breeds). Honestly I ate the eggs, I eat 3 eggs scrambled every morning, during the worming and for 2 weeks after, I only ate one egg from my flock and two from my friends farm that wasn’t currently worming. So far so good! As for keeping away tapeworms I was pretty heavily struggling with that until I started making a blend of red pepper flakes, garlic powder, cinnamon and tumeric that I would wet into a paste and mix in their feed. Now I haven’t seen any segments since! I occasionally throw in some food grade DE but I don’t wet that because I know that changes its effectiveness. Super open to any other suggestions to keep those poop zombies away!

Read the instructions on the wormer. When I used Valbazen I didn't feed eggs back to the chickens. But not sure that was on the bottle, since ut's a goat wormer. Hmm. Is there danger of overdosing? Idk. Not sure now where I read not to feed eggs back to the chickens, sorry. That was for roundworms.

I’ve actually read that same and that the withdraw period increases when you do that. But don’t listen to me, I’m over here eating the eggs throwing all caution to the wind.

I've been using Valbazen and Safeguard for years and we eat the eggs after using either product. Still here typing. Besides, Albendazole is used in humans as a wormer.
