I actually kinda like the leggier look of hatchery stock

. I had initially been drawn to the hatchery DC after reading some blogs touting their broodiness, foraging ability and added bonus of the meaty carcass. These WLR are very pretty though, even if they're not standard bred. I'm new to poultry.....beginner starting at the beginning.

If you want a good foraging, meaty breed without going to the extent of a Cornish, try Buckeyes! They are perfect if you are looking for the all-in-one breed. Not all my girls are broody though, I save the broodiness for the Cochins anyway, and boy, are they! I would be happy to offer any knowledge I might have on my experience with either breed.
