To feed or not to feed corn, that is the question.

Glad to hear you're getting some precip, I heard the fires are 70% contained...not sure how they measure that???

- Yes, I'm a freak, when it comes to taking care of my animals. They get better medical bennies than I do

ChickensAreSweet, I like the recipe. Maybe I could round up the ingredients and try it.

The "canesisters" - I love that! Very clever! - good idea with the corn :)

Cracked corn mixed with BOSS and oats as a scratch. Ill toss a can out in the morning when I let them out to free range. The main feed is Flock Raiser which they have free choice all day every day.

I have white leghorns. I feed corn and kitchen scraps. Never grower or layer. My hens can't free range because of predators. It is 102 here. Corn doesn't make mine hot, fat, lazy or anything. I even have a broody one right now. They are very healthy, the eggs I incubate are healthy. Really, they do just fine on corn.

It seams like most people feed there chickens corn. This is why it was so strange that someone told me she did not.

Carolb5 - Where do you live? It sounds a lot like Colorado.

nope no corn any more. I did and hated the fact it was GMO corn. my feed no longer has soy or corn in it. we give plenty of veggies and fruits. yougerts etc. no corn, not around here. we are going organic all the way.
