My chick is hatching. It is day 23 and she has been about 1/3 zipped for over 8 hours now. Her beak has not moved position so it appears she has zipped all she reach, but is unable to move inside to get the rest. What do I do?? Her beak is all the way through, she is breathing outside air and chirping and rocking her egg, but her body position has not changed in 8 hours. She has been constantly rocking in her egg for almost 20 hours and must be exhausted! Please advise. Thanks

If she has been zipped that long I would assist her out.

Most zips shouldn't take much time after they start.

xs 2 I would never let a zipper sit more than 45 minutes tops. Honestly I'd have them out in half an hour. zipping should not be a long drawn out process and if it is it's usually because there's an issue.

Just posted another post... I now have a baby who pipped right in the middle of the egg. Do I help? Clearly malpositioned??

I had one pip in the exact center of the fat end of the egg. I thought - how the heck is this one going to zip? Hours later it started zipping and made a hole kind of sideways on the egg and then pushed itself out. Very strange. I thought for sure I'd need to assist that one.

Yup, deep breath - it is stressful.
