For those who read my earlier threads...

Tuesday was day 21 for us and nothing. Then we had a hatch early Thursday, one yesterday afternoon, another in the night. These have all lived. Another hatched early this morning and has since died.

Another pipped in the wrong spot early Thursday, did not progress all day untl ute late when the hole got a tiny bit bigger. There's been nothing since then. I took the egg out to listen and still heard pipping this morning, so popped her back in on the side (so the hole is now at the top). But still nothing. I read the assisted hatching article and it kinda freaked me out. What should I do???

Also, no sign of pipping from the others. When should I call it a day?

I'm gonna have a lot of follow up questions in a few days about how to improve all of this. Has not really been a successful hatch (but grateful for the ones we do have).

We would love to help you troubleshoot when you are ready. You most likely will get plenty of opinions.

As for helping, It's been more than 24 hours+ and still alive so I would start an assist. But I want to say an assist at day 24 has a higher expected mortality rate than assisting an on time hatcher just having problems.....but....I am one of those bleeding hearts that don't stop trying till there is no life.

It is 4 hours after you posted this, so I don't know what has transpired since your post. If you would like help in how to assist, I can walk you through how I do it.

Thanks for your reply!

We couldn't hear anymore pipping, so we removed a chip of shell by the pip. We could see the beak under some fluid that had hardened. We moistened it and put it back. But there's been no movement, so I am pretty sure it's dead (we thought that as we were doing it).

I started with 18 eggs and have 3 chicks. So I think there have been some mistakes! I will post all my questions later this weekend when my kids are sleeping.
